What is the Skyborne race?
The Skyborne are the headline new playable race in World of Warcraft: Forever, revealed at BlizzCon 2026. They are an elemental-attuned, elf-like people whose home is Zephras Isle, the new elemental skybound starting experience covering levels 1–12. The race is neutral at heart, but at character creation you commit to a path: the Horde-aligned Windshaper Skyborne or the Alliance-aligned High Order Skyborne — and that choice decides one of your class options and your second racial.
How do you unlock the Skyborne?
The Skyborne require the Skyborne Heroic Pack ($29.99) or any higher edition — Epic Pack and Warcraft Forever Collection owners get the race too, along with the Zephras Isle starting experience. The base game without a pack does not include the race. Full pricing and every perk in each tier is laid out in the Collector’s Edition & packs guide.
Which classes can Skyborne play?
Every Skyborne can play the four core Classic classes, and each faction variant adds one more — a different one per side.
| Class | Availability | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Warrior | All Skyborne | — |
| Hunter | All Skyborne | — |
| Rogue | All Skyborne | — |
| Druid | All Skyborne | Exclusive new sky-blue Druid forms |
| Shaman | Windshaper (Horde) only | “Embrace the power of the elements” |
| Mage | High Order (Alliance) only | “Follow the philosophies of the Kirin Tor” |
What are the Skyborne racials?
Both variants share three racials; each variant gets one exclusive. The Horde racial is mobility-flavored, the Alliance racial is sustain-flavored — a real decision if you plan to level fast or tank dungeons.
| Racial | Variant | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Walk on Air | Both | Glide downward through the air for 10 seconds |
| Wind Blessed (passive) | Both | 1% increased melee, ranged, and spellcasting Haste |
| Elemental Insight (passive) | Both | Damage to Elementals increased by 5% |
| Read Ley Line | High Order (Alliance) | Activate a ley line: 100% increased Health and Mana regeneration |
| Skysight | Windshaper (Horde) | Receive an Elemental Blessing: 10% increased run speed |
Did other races get racial changes too?
Yes — Forever updates several Classic racials. Tauren’s Cultivation now grows bonus herbs that don’t require Herbalism to gather; Orc Axe Specialization now increases Critical Chance; Gnome’s Expansive Mind now increases maximum resource; and Gnomes gain a brand-new racial, Eureka!, which reduces the cost and boosts the damage or healing of your next 3 spells or abilities by 10%.
What do the new Druid forms look like?
Skyborne Druids get forms no other race has: sky-blue versions of Bear, Cat, Travel and Moonkin (Boomkin), shown off on stage at BlizzCon. Blizzard has not released official artwork yet, and there is no indication of a Tree of Life form at this time. If you were waiting for a reason to roll a Druid, this is the flashiest one — check the class roster for how the rest of the lineup shakes out.
What about customization?
Wowhead’s first look describes the customization as “deep and vast”: numerous skin tones, hairstyles, eyes, markings and more on top of the signature sky-blue look. Fine-grained option lists have not been published — this section will grow once the character creator is datamined or the beta client documents it.
