FAQ

What are the minimum system requirements for WoW Forever?
On Windows: 64-bit Windows 10 (May 2019 Update or newer), a 4-core 3.0 GHz Intel Haswell or AMD Ryzen Zen CPU, a DirectX 12 4GB GPU, 8GB RAM, and a 128GB SSD with a broadband connection.
Can WoW Forever run on Mac?
Yes. The macOS minimum is macOS 12 with an Apple M2 or 9th-generation Intel Coffee Lake processor and a Metal-capable 4GB GPU; the recommended Mac is an Apple M4 with 16GB memory on macOS 15.
What GPU architecture does WoW Forever require?
Blizzard requires AMD Graphics Core Next 1, NVIDIA Maxwell, Intel Skylake, or a newer graphics architecture for WoW Forever. The full minimum specifications listed on Battle.net are stricter than this architecture floor.
Is a compatible GPU automatically enough for WoW Forever?
No. Blizzard says the example compatible architectures are below the full minimum requirements, so a supported-generation card can still fall short of the complete spec. Compare your whole PC against the Battle.net requirements.

What are WoW Forever’s system requirements?

Blizzard’s full WoW Forever system requirements ask for more than a modern GPU: minimum play on Windows means 64-bit Windows 10 (May 2019 Update or newer), a 4-core 3.0 GHz processor (Intel Haswell or AMD Ryzen Zen generation), a DirectX 12 capable 4GB GPU, 8GB RAM, and 128GB of SSD storage. Mac players need macOS 12 with an Apple M2 or Intel Coffee Lake chip. The recommended tier roughly doubles that: Windows 11 or macOS 15, an 8-core 5.2 GHz-class CPU, an 8GB GPU, and 16GB RAM.

Does your GPU meet the WoW Forever requirement?

WoW Forever also carries a separate GPU architecture floor: a graphics processor based on AMD Graphics Core Next 1, NVIDIA Maxwell, Intel Skylake, or newer. Blizzard published this threshold as a compatibility screen, not the complete performance specification — and the full minimum requirements above are indeed stricter, asking for a GTX 10-series/RDNA 1-class 4GB card rather than anything Maxwell-era. Check both lists before upgrading hardware.

Which GPU generations are supported or unsupported?

Blizzard published the architecture floor alongside examples of cards on each side. The examples below are reference points, not a promise that every card from a named family meets every other requirement in the full specification.

IntelSkylake (2015)Intel HD Graphics 530Intel HD Graphics 6000

The requirement lets Forever use RGBA16F UAV support in compute shaders for its updated visual look. The Classic-versus-Retail systems guide covers the game’s broader visual and systems direction, but it is not a hardware checklist.

How can you find your graphics card in Windows?

Blizzard gives two quick Windows paths. Record the exact make and model before comparing it with the architecture floor or seeking vendor support.

  1. Open Settings, select System, choose Display, then open Advanced display to view the GPU make and model.
  2. Or open Device Manager and expand Display adapters to see installed graphics hardware.
  3. Compare the model with Blizzard’s supported-architecture list above.
  4. Open the Battle.net product page for the full minimum requirements before upgrading hardware.

For a returning-player readiness list beyond hardware, see the returning player guide. Players planning beta tools can keep their addon setup separate from a GPU compatibility check.

What should you do with an older card?

If your graphics card uses an architecture older than Blizzard’s listed floor, or misses the full minimum specification, Blizzard says you need to upgrade before playing Forever. Do not buy solely from the supported-example column: check full minimum requirements, power supply connections, physical case clearance, operating system support, and your display needs.
