What classes are in World of Warcraft: Forever?
Forever runs on Classic’s nine-class foundation: Warrior, Paladin, Hunter, Rogue, Priest, Shaman, Mage, Warlock and Druid — with the 51-point talent trees that define Classic builds. The game is a reimagining of the original level 1-60 experience, not a spec-parallel of Retail, so the class fantasy is the one you remember. What is new is who can be what: the Skyborne race brings faction-locked class options, and the new race/class combinations open up pairings Classic never allowed.
| Class | Role fantasy | Classic talent trees |
|---|---|---|
| Warrior | Melee tank and DPS | ✅ |
| Paladin | Holy tank, healer, DPS | ✅ |
| Hunter | Ranged DPS with pet | ✅ |
| Rogue | Melee stealth DPS | ✅ |
| Priest | Healer and shadow DPS | ✅ |
| Shaman | Totems, melee and caster DPS | ✅ |
| Mage | Arcane/fire/frost caster DPS | ✅ |
| Warlock | Caster DPS with demons | ✅ |
| Druid | Shapeshifting all-rounder | ✅ |
Can you really play an undead paladin?
Yes — and it is the story of the announcement. Undead paladins are confirmed as part of the new race and class combinations, and Wowhead dedicated a full announcement article to them: after nearly twenty years of forum threads, the Forsaken finally get the Light-flavored fantasy the community kept asking for. Blizzard has not published the full mechanics — how the Light interacts with Forsaken lore, or whether the paladin class gets any undead-specific touches — so specifics will land here as they are revealed.
What classes can the Skyborne race play?
The new race splits by faction variant. Every Skyborne can play Warrior, Hunter, Rogue and Druid — with exclusive sky-blue Druid forms — and then the variant choice adds one more: Horde Windshaper Skyborne can play Shaman (elemental traditions), while Alliance High Order Skyborne can play Mage (Kirin Tor philosophy). The full breakdown, including the variant-specific racials, is in the Skyborne race guide.
How do Legacy perks interact with classes?
The Legacy system is account-wide and deliberately non-combat, so it tweaks the journey rather than the class kits. The stand-out for levellers is Talented: you gain talent points every level starting at level 9 instead of level 10, while keeping the 51-point cap. Others — Well Rested (4% faster rested XP), Diplomat (+2% reputation gains), profession perks — make alts of every class faster to level. See the overview in What Is WoW Forever?.
When will we know more about specs and balance?
BlizzCon 2026 focused on the world, the race and the roadmap; class design deep-dives have not been published. Expect the beta window and patch notes to be the first real source of balance information — the endgame structure they feed into is covered in the dungeons & raids overview, and the philosophical split from Retail’s spec design is part of the Classic Plus vs WoW Forever comparison.
