FAQ

Do I need to buy a new game to play WoW Forever?
No. World of Warcraft: Forever is included with an active WoW subscription or Game Time — the same subscription that already covers Retail, Classic Era and the other Classic versions. The three optional packs only add perks like the Skyborne race or beta access.
How much does the subscription cost?
The standard US price is $14.99 per month on a rolling month-to-month plan, with multi-month options costing less per month. Thirty days of Game Time included with the Epic Pack and Collection are applied at launch.
When can I actually play WoW Forever?
Guaranteed beta access started September 17, 2026 for pre-purchasers, with a free opt-in lottery alongside it. Early Name Reservation runs October 27 to November 3, and the game launches November 4, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. Pacific.
What level do I start at in WoW Forever?
Level 1. The game rebuilds the original 1-60 experience — now with 1000+ new quests — and the cap stays at 60 permanently. Skyborne characters start at levels 1-12 in Zephras Isle; Classic races use the traditional starting zones.

How do I come back to WoW for Forever?

Coming back is a three-step job: reactivate a subscription, install the game, and make your pack decision. World of Warcraft: Forever is not a standalone game you buy — it is a new way to play included with the normal subscription, launching November 4, 2026, with a beta running from September 17 to October 21. Everything below is the short checklist, from lapsed account to launch night.

What does it cost to come back?

Nothing beyond the subscription you already know. The standard US price is $14.99 per month on a rolling month-to-month plan, with multi-month options reducing that figure; there is no Forever-specific purchase and no expansion to buy. The three optional packs sit on top and are worth understanding before you click anything — the full pack comparison breaks them down, but the shape is simple:

OptionPriceWhat it actually adds
Subscription or Game Time only$14.99/month (standard US)The entire game at launch — no pack required
Skyborne Heroic Pack$29.99Skyborne race, Zephras Isle starting zone, Early Name Reservation, cosmetics
Skyborne Epic Pack$59.99Everything above plus guaranteed beta access, pets, 30 days Game Time
Warcraft Forever Collection$79.99Everything in Epic plus Warcraft III: Reforged and its new Forsaken Kingdom campaign

The one trap to avoid: the $29.99 Heroic Pack does not include beta access. If playing early is the reason you are resubscribing, you need the Epic tier or the free opt-in lottery.

Your pre-launch checklist

Six steps, in order, with every date that matters:

  1. Reactivate your subscription or Game Time. Do it now if you want beta access — the beta runs September 17 through October 21.
  2. Install Battle.net and World of Warcraft. Forever runs inside the normal client; there is no separate download listed yet. Disk space requirements have not been published.
  3. Opt in to the beta on the official site, or guarantee access with a $59.99+ pack. Testers reported the beta capped at level 30 at the start of the test window, rising later.
  4. Reserve your name October 27 to November 3 — Early Name Reservation is exclusive to Heroic Pack or higher, first come first served. Character naming now uses a main name plus an optional secondary name.
  5. Decide your race and class before launch. Nine Classic classes return with 51-point talent trees; new race and class combos like undead paladins headline the changes, and our racials guide covers the tweaks to old favorites.
  6. Log in November 4, 2026, 3:00 p.m. Pacific (6:00 p.m. Eastern, midnight UTC+1 in Europe, morning of November 5 in Asia-Pacific). The full release date timeline lists what follows — December raids included.

What has changed since you last played?

If your last Azeroth was 2004-2006, Forever is deliberately familiar with edges sanded off. The Classic or Retail system comparison goes system by system, but the headline differences:

  • The cap is 60 forever. No level treadmill — new content arrives as patches and roadmap drops, not expansions.
  • A new endgame layer. The account-wide Legacy system rewards everything you do with account-wide perks, and the first new raids (Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit) arrive in December 2026.
  • The world grew. Over 1000 new quests, nine new dungeons, and new zones including Zephras Isle, the floating starting area for the Skyborne.
  • A new race joins both factions. The Skyborne are a neutral race with Horde and Alliance variants, unlocked with the $29.99 Heroic Pack or higher.
  • Hardcore is coming as a separate mode after launch, for players who want one-life rules.
