FAQ

Has Blizzard confirmed Skyborne customization?
Yes. Blizzard says Skyborne have new customizations, voices, dances, and visual options. The complete category list now comes from beta datamine coverage by Wowhead.
What is unique about Skyborne customization?
Feather styles, feather colors, and ear lengths are Skyborne signature categories. Body type 2 adds earrings on top of the shared set.
Are the datamined options final?
Not guaranteed. The counts come from the September beta client datamine, and Blizzard can add, remove, or rework options before the November 4 launch.

Which Skyborne customization options exist in WoW Forever?

Skyborne customization is the deepest option set of any Forever race so far: Blizzard promised “new racials, customizations, voices, dances, and visual options” at BlizzCon, and Wowhead’s September beta datamine now lists the full category spread — 11 categories for body type 1 and 12 for body type 2, including signature feather styles, feather colors, and ear lengths that no other race offers.

What did Blizzard officially promise?

Two official facts frame everything: the What’s Next panel recap says the race ships with “new racials, customizations, voices, dances, and visual options,” and Wowhead’s stage report called the customization “deep and vast” after seeing it previewed at BlizzCon. The panel slide showed skin tones, hairstyles, eyes, markings, and more alongside both faction variants.

What are the datamined option categories?

Wowhead datamined both body types from the beta client. Body type 1 covers the shared set; body type 2 swaps facial hair for earrings and adds a dedicated feather-styles category.

Wowhead’s counts for the full spread — 93 options across 11 categories on body type 1, 118 across 12 categories on body type 2 — are broken down number-by-number in our Skyborne race guide. The datamine article also notes the tattoos come with a darker-ink option in the same tone as the body tattoos.

How do you get a Skyborne character to customize?

The race itself is the gate: Skyborne require the Heroic Pack ($29.99) or any higher edition, with faction (Windshaper or High Order) and class chosen during creation. The full unlock and pricing picture lives in the race guide and the packs comparison; the decision order is covered in the character creation guide.

  1. Buy the Heroic Pack or higher to unlock the race.
  2. Start on Zephras Isle, the Skyborne starting experience.
  3. Pick your faction variant, class, and customization in the creator.
  4. Expect more options to appear as beta builds iterate toward launch.

How is customization different from transmog and Druid forms?

Keep three systems apart when comparing screenshots: customization is chosen in the creator (the categories above), transmog alters equipped gear later — Forever lets you configure it in cities or hide other players’ transmog entirely per the systems comparison — and Druid forms are shapeshift models tracked separately in the forms guide. The same blue feather palette runs through all three, which is why screenshots are easy to mix up.

What could still change before launch?

The datamine is a snapshot of the September beta client. Blizzard can rebalance palettes, add categories, or adjust voices and dances — which are officially promised but not yet datamined in detail — before the November 4 launch. If you want the race for launch day, the unlock timing in the release date guide covers the pre-purchase and name-reservation windows.
