What race and class combinations exist in WoW Forever?
All of them are on the record. The full matrix was datamined from the beta client (September 16, 2026): Classic’s race-class roster carries over unchanged — Night Elf and Tauren Druids, Troll and Orc Shamans and so on — and seven new pairings land on top. The classes guide keeps the authoritative table; the short version:
| New pairing | Status |
|---|---|
| Undead Paladin | Confirmed in the Deep Dive’s six new combinations; playable through the beta |
| Human Hunter | Confirmed — the datamined matrix’s second headline |
| Orc Mage | Confirmed |
| Gnome Priest | Confirmed |
| Dwarf Shaman | Confirmed |
| Troll Warlock | Confirmed |
| Skyborne | Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, Druid for all — plus Shaman (Horde Windshaper) or Mage (Alliance High Order) |
What the confirmed racials say about each pairing
The final beta build (October 15/16) settled the racial picture for launch — the full table lives on the racials guide. Reading them by pairing is where the interesting questions start, and where the honesty rules start too. Confirmed facts per race, with the pairing angles they raise:
| Race | Confirmed racial highlights (final beta build) | Pairing angles it raises — untested |
|---|---|---|
| Undead | Cannibalize restores 7% Health and Mana over 10 sec; Touch of the Grave proc smoothed out and Touch of the Dead given explicit proc rates (30% casters / 20% Paladins-Rogues-Warriors, 25-sec internal cooldown) in the October 15 build; Will of the Forsaken removes Charm, Fear, Sleep | Sustain tools for caster pairings; the new Undead Paladin gets a reported regeneration bridge on top |
| Human | Ruthless: +2% critical strike chance — replaced Sword Specialization in the October 15 build; Will to Survive removes Stun; Perception detects Stealth | All-around crit now applies to any weapon, which keeps Human on the board for every caster and melee pairing |
| Dwarf | Earth Fury: +2% critical damage and healing — replaced Mace Specialization in the October 15 build; Stoneform removes and grants Bleed/Poison/Disease immunity, 10% Physical reduction; Find Treasure now also pays out in chests | Anti-bleed and anti-poison utility against Poison-heavy enemies — a beta meta question |
| Night Elf | Elune’s Light +10% crit for 15 sec; Quickness 1% Dodge with movement speed now stacking with other effects; Shadowmeld | Elune’s Light is effectively a new Berserking for Night Elves — a headline racial-side addition in the datamine |
| Gnome | Eureka! reworked in the October 15 build: an 8-second buff with no charges (+10% damage, +10% ability cost), now also benefiting Power Word: Shield and unusable from Stealth; Expansive Mind raises max resource | A burst window racial for caster pairings — after two earlier nerfs and a rework |
| Dwarf Shaman / Troll Warlock / Orc Mage | Blood Fury +10% Attack Power and Spell Power for 15 sec on a 3-minute cooldown, Savage +1% crit (Orc, replacing Axe Specialization), Hardiness -20% stun duration per the datamine; Berserking +10% casting and attack speed for 10 sec, Regeneration raised to 20% health regen (Troll); Earth Fury and Stoneform carry into Dwarf Shaman | The new pairings inherit races with intact throughput cooldowns |
| Tauren | War Stomp 2-sec stun on a 90-second cooldown; Endurance now +2% critical damage and healing (was +1% hit); Plainsrunning adds +3% mounted speed; Cultivation cooldown cut to 15 minutes | Tank-flavored pairings get the stun and a crit-damage boost that favors hard-hitting specs |
| Skyborne | Walk on Air (10-sec glide, 90-second cooldown), Wind Blessed 3% haste (raised from 1% in the October 15 build), Elemental Insight +5% vs Elementals; Skysight and Read Ley Line now castable while moving | Six class options split by variant — see the Skyborne race guide |
Every cell in the middle column traces to official beta development notes or the datamine; every cell in the right column is a question, not an answer — that is the division this page keeps until testing exists.
The pairing questions search actually asks
Search traffic concentrates on three pairings, so here is what is confirmed for each — and what is not.
Paladin races. The confirmed paladin roster is Classic’s (Human, Dwarf, Draenei) plus the Undead Paladin. No other race gained the class. The Undead version’s mechanics are partially documented: Holy Strike received direct buffs in the October class-tuning pass, Righteous Fury’s Holy-damage threat generation was raised to 90% in the final beta build, and the racial bridge — undead characters carry bonus regeneration that offsets their own Holy spells’ self-damage — was live through the end of the beta and still being measured when the test closed.
Undead classes. Warrior, Rogue, Priest, Mage, Warlock — the Classic five — plus Paladin, with Hunter explicitly not among the new combinations (that spot belongs to Human Hunter). The per-class breakdown is the Undead classes guide’s territory.
Skyborne classes. Warrior, Hunter, Rogue and Druid for both variants; Shaman for the Horde Windshaper, Mage for the Alliance High Order. The variant choice overlaps with the racial split — a movement-and-glide blessing versus a regeneration burst — so the pairing decision and the variant decision are the same decision, per the Skyborne race guide.
How a “best pairings” verdict will actually be earned
The beta closed on October 23 after five weeks, with the last build shipping the heaviest class and racial tuning of the test — and still nothing that ranks pairings. The evidence that will, in order:
- Launch-scale play — five beta weeks capped at level 30 say nothing about level-60 raids or endgame PvP, where pairing value actually gets decided.
- Settled values — the October 15 build froze most numbers, but launch-day patch notes get the final word.
- Documented results — pairing-level performance in dungeons, raids or PvP, from measured play rather than forum consensus.
- The combination matrix holding still — launch could still shuffle edge cases.
Until then, pick the pairing whose fantasy you want, verify the racials on your live characters, and treat every external “S-tier pairing” list posted before launch as guessing. The account layer does not care which you pick: the Legacy system pays the same points for leveling any class. When two of the four evidence sources above exist, this page converts into a ranked guide with per-pairing verdicts beside the classes guide — and the talent-tree groundwork it will build on is tracked on the talents page.
